Skills / Experience Requirements:

Competencies/Skills:

  • Must possess a demonstrated high degree of tact in dealing with both plant staff and maintenance personnel
  • Good oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent administrative and analytical skills
  • Leadership ability to implement change and continuous improvement within the maintenance staff and the plant at large

Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of reliability tools (vibration, ultrasound, thermal imaging, laser alignment)
  • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques
  • Computer Literate and able to make presentations to communicate progress or identify opportunities

Education:

  • University degree in engineering (B.Eng. or M. Eng) - preferred
  • Applicants with 2 years technical education and extensive maintenance experience related to reliability functions may be considered

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years  maintenance or operational experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years maintenance supervision – desired

Travel:

  • Up to 75% travel during the first six months in position
  • After first six months travel will be minimal
  • Unrestricted cross border mobility to the US is a must

Physical:

  • Ability to climb on equipment and scaffolding, work at heights, enter confined spaces, and function around industrial plant equipment
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Working in this environment requires the mandatory use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots and hardhats
  • Not restricted from working in extraction facilities where hexane and other chemicals are used

 

Job Description:

Overview:

The primary role of the reliability manager is to improve reliability of the physical assets by eliminating unanticipated failures. This is done through development of a sound proactive maintenance strategy, analysis of failure causes, recommending design enhancements, and developing improved repair methods.
 
The reliability manager is responsible for the reliability of all equipment in the area to which he/she is assigned.  He/she maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or completed work.


Essential Functions:

  • Has a thorough understanding of the Potential-Failure Curve and relationship to setting maintenance activity frequencies
  • Participate actively in the weekly work scheduling meeting
  • Assists in the development of long-range asset management schedules and budgets
  • Educates other employees about reliability concepts and local reliability implementation
  • Receives completed Reliability Inspection data sheets and initiates appropriate action
  • Maintains the PM (Preventive Maintenance) and PdM (Predictive Maintenance) systems and process within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Develops, recommends and implements strategies for improving the reliability of the manufacturing processes
  • Performs reliability reviews of each modification or design change
  • Reviews predictive maintenance activities, recommends changes to the type of monitoring, routes, frequency and equipment monitored
  • Maintains or monitors equipment downtime database with focus on monitoring unscheduled downtime on key process equipment
  • Responsible for RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) or FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) on existing equipment and all new equipment
  • Monitors and performs trending and analysis of all PdM (Predictive Maintenance), PM (Preventive Maintenance) and CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) data
  • Monitors the execution and effectiveness of lubrication programs
  • Performs life cycle cost analyses on all engineering design changes
  • Reviews required asset management performance reports
  • Communicates the key asset management performance indicators as well as the company’s KPIs (Key Process Indicators)
  • Works closely with the Maintenance and Operations Departments in performing RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) and asset management improvement
  • Facilitates RCFA Teams
  • Generates downtime analysis reports and performs Pareto Analysis on results
