Job Title: Vice President Membership and Business Operations

Job Description: General Purpose:
Execute the business management and marketing strategies that are developed through close interaction with the Sr. VP and COO to achieve the goals and objectives for the Area operations and business management. This is a broad-based, senior management position with opportunity for growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly report to and work in close coordination with the Eastern Fluid Group Sr. VP & COO to meet the goals and objectives established relating to the overall management of the Mideast Area.
Duties will increasingly include the planning, preparation and facilitation of Area Council meetings, member meetings, and professionally represent DFA at industry events.
Participate with Sr. VP & COO in the development of business management, marketing and membership strategies. Provide leadership and increasingly assume responsibility for executing the specific strategies to oversee all aspects of membership, the efficient marketing of fluid products (raw milk, condensed skim milk and cream) and the logistical functions. Oversee and maximize the efficiency of staff’s efforts in all aspects of Area operations: logistics, marketing, customer service.
Develop policies, budgets and operational plans for approval by the Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.
Manage the hiring, development, and compensation of Area Council staff members, subject to review and approval by the Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer.
Maintain awareness of local, national and international market conditions, competitive activities and general economic conditions in relationship to the dairy industry. Participate in industry events to promote the direction and concerns of the council.
Effectively communicate and problem-solve in an intense, ever-changing environment.
All duties and actions necessary to support the efficient and successful operations of the Area.

Requirements: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate training and experience
10+ years of operational and management experience, 5+ years of that experience in the fluid milk marketing and dairy membership environment.
Dairy plant knowledge and a technical expertise in milk quality a plus.
Working with dairy farmers and customers within a dairy cooperative structure a plus.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be willing to relocate to region.
Excellent understanding of milk marketing and transportation.
Good computer skills including knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing.
Strong math and communication skills, excellent work ethic.
Analytical and strong business acumen a must
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong negotiation and project management skills
Energized by people, versatile, driven, adaptable and outstanding work ethic
Ability to speak publicly or present to large groups
Experienced in building high performance teams and process improvement
