Requirements: EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
This position requires a BS Degree in Engineering, Master's Degree preferred.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of ERP (Oracle eBS preferred) and PDM systems and their application to a service and repair business is needed.
Proficiency in PC’s and networked computer concepts for client software and operating data acquisition is important.
Above average demonstrated leadership, management of personnel, verbal and written communication skills are critical for success in this position.
Strong self initiative, ingenuity and creativity in achieving goals are needed.
The individual must demonstrate an ability to work independently and to also work constructively as a management team member to achieve strategic business objectives and goals.
At least 15 years senior management engineering and project management experience in a manufacturing or custom repair services environment involving large equipment.
Preference is given for related OEM experience in large frame steam, hydro and gas turbine – generator equipment.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
PE license required.

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear.
The employee is frequently required to walk and occasionally required to stand.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The majority of this work takes place in an office environment.
On occasion the employee may interact with personnel in the plant where they may be exposed to extremes in temperature and where the environment is occasionally loud.
Job Description: The Director, Engineering is primarily responsible for the planning, directing, coordinating and execution of all Engineering activities in support of the Company’s project, product development, parts, and engineering services activities. This position is responsible for all aspects of Engineering, including but not limited to:

Turbine Engineering
Generator Engineering
Metallurgical & Analysis Engineering
Dynamic Analysis and Balance Engineering
Parts Engineering
Technology Transfer from Toshiba and Other Partners
The position will plan, budget for and manage an annual operating budget. Planning efforts will focus on training, maintaining and expanding the Company’s engineering capacity and capabilities with continuous improvements in response to customer needs, business growth and the business unit’s strategic plan. Focus is placed on providing a level of engineering support consistent with the timeliness, quality and efficiency requirements of the business unit's Commercial, Production Operations, Construction and Field Service, and Product Management Organizations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of engineering personnel, engineering tools and facilities in accordance with the budget.
Oversight of all engineering activities to assure compliance with standards, processes and procedures to assure the highest quality services to the organization and customers.
Planning and budgeting for annual engineering expenditures based on Com the business unit's business plan.
Manage engineering resources and staffing in a manner to support current and future growth in work in accordance with the Company’s annual budget and strategic plan.
Development of engineering standards, processes, procedures, data bases and tools that will fulfill the requirements of the business to meet planned schedules and project budgets, thereby assuring planned margins are met or improved.
Establish personnel evaluation, development methods and practices required to assure growth and the capability level of engineering for executing project, product development, and engineering services work.
Maintenance of relationships with local universities as a means to identify, train and hire new Engineering personnel matching growth needs. This may include managing the business unit’s involvement in Engineering Cooperative Education Programs and supporting job fairs.
Provides monthly report summarizing project, new product development and engineering services engineering activities, employee utilization factors, budget variances, major engineering cost variances, engineering related NCR’s, new hires or employee turnover and support of any major capital improvements and or maintenance activities.
